CAPTURING NATURE'S TREASURES & BEAUTY IN FINE SILVER
One day workshop with Emma Mitchell
Sunday 22 September 2019
10:00am - 3:30pm
During Emma’s silver clay workshop she will teach you about the history and chemistry of silver - its excellent recycled origins and how to handle and roll it out. You will make fine silver pendants and charms using a combination of hand-modelling, imprinting with textiles and stamps, and pressing silver clay into unique silicone moulds of tiny found objects such as fossils or metal-detecting finds.
These moulds are like a personal archive of small, beautiful artifacts which you can cast into wearable silver versions!
We also use leaves from surrounding Purbeck hedgerows to imprint into the clay. These are, in effect, silver fossils! The leaves themselves become compost but the pendants endure, capturing a seasonal moment that can be worn in the winter to remember warmer days.
You will go home with 3 to 4 finished silver pieces (one on a sterling chain or turn your charms into earrings).
Included in the class:
* 7g silver clay
* 18in Sterling silver chain
* Moulding compound
* Use of all tools needed
* Light refreshments (Coffee, tea, biscuits and cake!)
