Product Description

EasyCast Clear Casting Resin hardens to a high-gloss finish, and cures in about 36-72 hours.

It is used for projects that are larger, like large pendants, bangles, paper weights, and door knobs. This resin got 4 out of 5 stars when tested in Making Jewellery, Oct 2009! EasyCast is a two-component clear casting epoxy. Epoxy resins provide stronger adhesion, less shrinkage and tougher water resistance when cured than polyester resins. It's solvent free and low odor. It can easily be colored, tinted or combined with fillers to create faux granite or metallic castings, and also used to trap items like photos, confetti, sea shells, glass frit, sweets - your imagination is the limit. These characteristics make it ideal for casting and embedding up to 6 ounces (maximum) per pour.

Due to heat build up and discoloration, do not attempt to cast more than 6 ounces at one time. Mix with colourants or Pearl-ex Pigments to add beautiful colours. Glitter, Rhinestones, etc can be added to create gorgeous effects.

Large (440ml/16oz).

  1. Great but some tips below:

Posted by Harajuku Boutique on 8th Dec 2011

This is the first and only resin I've ever used, so not sure how it compares to others, but here are some tips I discovered after a couple of batches went wrong.

    1. When you stir the 2 parts together for 2 minutes, try hard not to lift your stirrer out of the mixture as this adds air bubbles to the mix and will not result in a clear smooth finish to your work. Try to keep the stirrer well within the mixture and stir slowly.

    2. Allow your resin in cure at room temperature. I left a batch of moulds to cure in the garage on a particularly cold day and they did not set properly and remained tacky.

    3. Instead of pouring in large amounts of resin to set, I prefer to do several thin layers, ensuring each layer of resin is fully set before adding this next. This allows your work to cure well.

I will add more tips as and when I discover them. But those are my tips for using Easy Cast resin. I have used it to make some japanese style kawaii jewellery.
