Using moulding compound and metal clay you can replicate almost anything in real fine silver (or copper, bronze, brass, even gold).
Immortalise treasures from nature like shells, twigs, leaves, or flowers. Turn your favourite button, or heart shaped sweet into an adorable silver charm to wear on a necklace, or use the cute pattern on a vintage spoon handle to make unique earrings. Use things like lace, bark, kid’s toys, shoe soles, to make patterned plates which you can texture any clay with.
Moulding compound can safely be used on skin, and with pets. You can make adorable pet nose and paw replicas, as well as finger print impressions, using moulds and silver clay.
In this class you’ll get to try out a few different moulding materials, and will take home a great selection of personal moulds!
We’ll also show you how to then take a squidge of dull looking clay, imprint silver into your mould, and guide you through the basics of working with silver clay, so you’ll leave with a finished silver replica of what you’ve moulded.
Here are some of the things you’ll experience on the day:
- show you the similarities and differences between a few different types of moulding compounds
- making moulds from scratch from two different types of mould making materials
- how to make successful moulds that will last
- how to use silver to create a replica from your moulded original and how to achieve the best impression from your mould
- learn the basics about handling, refining, and firing silver clay
We’ll have lots of things available to make moulds from, but you’re very welcome to bring buttons, shells, lace, fossils, love hearts; or anything else you want to mould (within reason, it might be best if you leave the cat at home :)).
The course fee includes:
- 50gm moulding compound
- 7gm of Art Clay Silver Clay
- Use of all tools needed.
- And of course - no class of our’s would ever be complete without free non-stop coffee, tea and biscuits… :)
