We're excited to add this fascinating thermoplastic modelling and moulding material to our range! Popular with crafters, prop creators, costume makers, and now jewellery makers - Worbla's Transp Art (WTA) is an extremely versatile moulding material and so fun to use!
The transparent plastic becomes incredibly flexible when heated so it can be stretched over forms and then cooled to harden. It holds shapes perfectly. So for metal clay makers it gives you a great core material - shape it to any shape you want, and use as a form for your metal clay - it gives gorgeous soft undulating forms.
You can also heat the plastic into a putty and use it in pre-made moulds or for free-form modelling.
And there is no need to worry about messing up or wasting the material - the plastic can be re-softened with heat (approx. 120°C/250°F) as many times as you like so it's completely re-usable!
It can also be dyed when hot or painted with glass paint or acrylic paint afterwards. You can join sheets using rivets, glue or a soldering iron.
Worbla's Transpa Art is non-toxic, solvent-free, and contains no hazardous materials so it's simple and safe to use, even for complete beginners. We recommend wearing heat protective gloves to protect your hands from the heat.
HOW TO USE:
Heat to 120°C with a heat gun. The plastic will harden as it cools down but can be reactivated as often as required. If you're modelling complex shapes, we recommend working the shape gradually bit by bit. Use a wet sponge, old tooth brush, or sculpting tools to help stretch and shape it over a form.
