Zam Crocus Cut and Polish Compound - a fine polish for a clean and sparkly finish. The perfect compound for turquoise and silver jewellery. Sometimes referred to as a Super Finish Compound.

Zam is a proprietary mixture of aluminum oxide and chromium oxide held with a binder.

It produces a high luster without residue, and is your final finishing step when you polish. It is a very versatile polishing compound as it can be used on metals, many stones, and plastics.

Zam Crocus Cut and Polishing Compound is great on precious metals like gold and silver. It is also suitable for steel, and different acrylics, epoxies, and plastics.
It also polishes soft stones beautifully. It is especially formulated to not scratch soft stones (like turquoise, lapis, malachite, amber, and rhodocrosite) so it can safely be used to polish jewellery with stones already set - a real time saver! It doesn't cling to or penetrate the surface of stones.

This is a LARGE amount polish. It comes in a push-up cardboard tube (please note it has no lid - this is how it is supplied by the manufacturer as a lid is not necessary)

Zam is usually applied to a buffing wheel on a bench polisher, buffer, or flexshaft tool. You can also use it by hand with a cloth if you use a little elbow grease - see the video above.

Many goldsmiths prefer Zam compared to rouge for a final finish.

Approximately 455gm/1lb

Please read the safety data sheet before use - click here to view SDS. As with all polishing compounds avoid breathing in any dust created and use in a well ventilated area.

TOP TIP
This cutting and polishing compound will last for years and years. After many years it might start to look a little dry, but as soon as you touch it to the wheel the friction will warm it up and it will adhere well to the wheel.

To avoid drag-lines when polishing stones or plastics, use a light touch and don't let the buff get too hot.

Best used with tight weave muslin wheels, like these.
