PickleIt™ Surface Prep and pickle for metals - by CoolTools

Created from a blend of natural 100% non-toxic food grade materials PickleIt™ is designed to remove copper oxides from most metals, including silver, bronze and copper. A great solution for removing the oxidization from your fired metal clay pieces!

Also ideal for preparing sterling silver to incorporate into metal clay and enamelling pieces.

To use:

Add 1tbs of PickleIt™ per 8oz of water - distilled water is also better but not essential! A stronger concentration may work faster.

Heat the solution in a glass, stainless steel container or small crockpot until it is boiling. Then lower the heat to maintain a gental simmer.

Leave the pieces in the solution until the oxidiztion has gone and the metal has returned to its natural colour.

It is a good idea to neutralise your metal clay after pickling, this can be done by first rinsing your piece, then putting it in a mix of hot water and bicarbonate of soda. Leave for a few minutes and rinse.

This solution can be used with any stone that can withstand firing, and is safe to dispose of in a household drain.
