UltraLite - Flat Cover for Enamelling
Increase the heat in your UltraLite Studio kiln for large enamelling work.
The Ultralite Flat Cover is used to increase the Ultralite Studio kiln temperature, by up to 37°C.
This can sometimes be needed if you are firing large enamels, if the kiln doesn't get hot enough. Most enamel work doesn't need this, so we recommend starting out with the normal lid and only get this cover if needed.
You use this lid instead of the normal kiln lid (the one that looks like a little upside-down frying pan). Just lay the flat cover on top of the kiln, as per the photo above. The flat cover will reflect the heat back to the enamel, increasing the temperature.
- This cover should only be used for enamel work.
- Never leave the flat cover on the kiln for more than 5 minutes at a time. Used for longer than 5 minutes it can overheat the element which would cause the element to break.
