Bead Builder Shape System - Squircle (a square with round edges)

Make effortless hollow rounded corner square-shaped beads with different designs in metal clay with this Bead Builder Squircle Mould.

The beads will fit beautifully on Pandora™️ style bracelets. Easily add personal touches before firing with a fingerprint, clay shapes, scribe a name or use the textures available! There are 4 different texture designs to choose from as well as a plain mould base so you can create your own design.

These bead moulds create 3-dimensional beads by making the bead in two halves. Because the bead is hollow, it uses a minimal amount of clay (approx 4.5g - very dependant upon the amount of paste used, added decorations, or if you manage to squeeze a bit more clay in!). You could even do different designs on each side!

How to use:

Start by cutting out a piece of clay to use, this can be done with any cutter or tool but to make your life easier we also carry the shape specific cutters so you can cut the exact shape and size you need to put into the mould!

Choose your design, if you need extra stability use the texture cradle to put your silicone mould in and press the clay into the mould using the top of the bead builder. Then compress with a vice, clamp, or between your hands for a few seconds. Use a small tool (2mm drill bits work well!) to remove the clay from the holes within the shape (can be seen when looking down on the mould).

Once you are happy your mould has been taken remove the top part of the moud that you used to press and remove any excess clay. Allow the clay to dry either by leaving it somewhere warm, using a hot plate, dehydrator, or a cup warmer. Make sure to take the mould out of the texture cradle before placing on anything hot!

When dry carefully remove from the mould by prying each corner open a little. Stick both halves together with Art Clay Silver Paste, and blend the join to make it look seamless. Leave the paste to dry, refine, and fire.

We recommend using our CoolSlip or olive oil to lubricate the mould before each use. 

What you need:

To use this Bead Builder Shape System you will need to purchase the Base Mould, this is hard plastic and allows you to create plain beads.

You have the option of adding on the cutter so you can cut your clay to the exact shape you need for your mould.

There are 4 different textures to choose from, these are made from silicone, making is super easy to release your dry clay, you can also purchase a plain silicone version to use instead of the plastic one that comes with the base mould.

Finally you can choose to purchase the cradle, you pop the silicone mould into the cradle before adding your clay and it helps to keep it steady to prevent moving the mould whilst taking an imprint.
