This high-temperature, air-drying refractory cement is used to repair or coat ceramic kiln firebricks.
Instructions for use with firebrick kilns:
1. Mix 4 parts dry cement to 1 part water and mix thoroughly.
2. Before applying the cement to the kiln you first need to trim and clean the broken edge. You will need to cut the new piece of firebrick to fit (not supplied).
3. Vacuum your kiln and remove dust from surface you are going to cement. You may find it helpful to moisten the firebrick pieces with water.
4. Stir the mixed cement and pour it into a large, flat container. Dip the firebrick surface into the tray so that it just touches the cement surface.
5. Remove the firebrick piece from the cement and quickly press the two surfaces together (replacement firebrick part to kiln). Wiggle and twist the piece into place which will also squeeze out excess cement.
6. Once positioned do not move the piece again as this will affect the bond. Scrape off the excess cement without disturbing the firebricks.
7. Finally, allow the cement to dry overnight and the sand it smooth.
Top Tip! If you are unsure about how to apply the cement, first practice on small pieces of firebrick.
