Product Description
These silver foils are exclusive from Art Clay. You get one sheet which measures 10x10cm.
They are really gorgeous to add that extra detail to your work. See image 2 which is a project using these from our book 'Colorful Silver Accessories'. Here they have been enamelled over the top for a gorgeous frosty colour look.
Very similar to use as our Keum-Boo gold foil. Apply to your fired piece. Pre-heat your kiln to 800 degrees celsius, place the silver foil in position (a tiny bit of moisture can help, such as a little spit), place in the kiln for 1 minute, take out and burnish.
It is probably best to fire your piece on a fibre shelf, as this can be removed with tweezers and placed on a heat proof surface, such as a fibre brick. Hold down the piece with your tweezers and burnish with your free hand. You want to work quite quickly, while the metal is hot. Try and keep your burnisher cool by quenching it in water, this should help avoid the foil sticking to your burnisher.
We haven't tried it yet, but wondered if it would work on glass, or between some glass sheets when fusing? Interesting thought.
