Over 20,000 copies sold worldwide!
This comprehensive soft-back book on the Korean technique of fusing gold to silver is written by Celie Fago - a wonderful artist and teacher. This is the first book in English (as far as we are aware) fully dedicated to the subject.
It isn't huge in size, and it isn't a fancy deluxe hard-back book - but it is huge when it comes to knowledge and information.
In its 64 pages it describes every step in detail, explains and lists all the tools and equipment you need, and makes this marvellous technique accessible to anyone. Celie explains the technique from the beginning in clear and easy to understand language, her instructions and detailed photographs make it easy to understand the process, even for a complete beginner. This book is for metalsmiths, non-metalsmiths and those who work in metal clay, the techniques described in this book provide a simple and relatively inexpensive way to add the luster of gold to silver work.
Celie has created beautiful jewellery using the technique for a long time, and through this book she generously shares her experience with other jewellery and metal clay artists.
"I love Keum-Boo - and this is very much thanks to Celie Fago. I'm a big fan of her work. I had admired her jewellery for a long time, and then had the privilege of taking a class with Celie. I left the class feeling so comfortable with the technique and really understanding what it is all about. She is an incredibly knowledgable and generous teacher, who patiently shared all she knew about the technique with us all - this book is definitely the second best thing to taking a class with her. She describes every step of the process, in detail, and you can feel her encouragement as you explore the technique. I wholeheartedly recommend this book (and the technique!) to anyone who wants to expand their range of jewellery making techniques" - Petra Cameron

I LOVE this book. It is like taking a class with Celie, she takes you through everything you need, how to choose the right gold, what tools you need and how to look after them, how to get started on a budget, and how to succeed! It's small but FULL of information, including detailed photos. If you want to learn about KeumBoo - this book is for you.
This is a really informative guide but I'd call it a 'booklet' rather than a book! and for the rpice I was expecting somehting with a bit more content. However, although it is pricey, it is one of the best and most detailed books readily available on this subject and having shopped around, this price is competitive. I guess if you want to practise kuem boo, the first step is taking the costs on the chin!!
