Product Description
Large Fibre Shelf to be Cut Down or for larger kilns.
Place your pieces to be fired on this to protect the floor of the kiln and to help you remove the fired pieces after firing. You can place the shelf directly onto the base of the kiln floor, but using kiln posts is a good idea to allow for air circulation. We recommend you use three posts (rather than four) to ensure the shelf is stable. Place on at the back centre of the shelf, and two at the front, one per corner.
The shelf will go brown on the first firing, this is normal and is the binder burning off - it will go back to an off-white colour once it has been fired at about 600-800C for a little while.
The shelf measures approximately 22.5cm x 15cm x 1cm. It therefore will not fit into the Prometheus Pro 7 or Paragon SC2 without being trimmed down. If you have a larger kiln the shelf can be used whole.
The shelf will have uneven, slightly rough, edges due to how it is made and compressed during its manufacture. Some may also have slight discolouration or marks due to the manufacturing process, but it will not affect its performance.
You can use sharp scissors or a knife to cut this shelf down as required, we recommend wearing a face mask whilst doing this.
