Our Pen-Style Scratch Brushes are handy tools to have on your workbench for a variety of uses: create scratch finishes on metals, clean files, drill bits and burrs, clean jewellery and watch backs, remove rust and dirt from watch movement parts.
Each brush has retractable bristles to give you a range of firmness in a compact size. Extend the bristles to get into those impossible places and to get a true scratch finish. Set the bristles short to get a uniform medium satin finish.
Use the brass scratch brush for burnishing silver and gold clays and creating scratch finishes. Use with dab of soap and water to burnish freshly fired silver and copper clays. Use the steel scratch brush for burnishing harder metals such as bronze or brass. Use with a dab of soap and water to burnish freshly fired bronze clay. This will create a soft satin finish on hard metals, or a scratch finish on silver. Use the fibreglass scratch brush to polish without scratching metal or enamel. This is great for cleaning metals and fired enamels. To get the best finish, submerge your item under water and clean with glass fibre scratch brush.
